Toastmasters Charity Quilt

Well I think I have done it. I have committed to making a quilt to be raffled for our District 24 Toastmasters educational fund. And as luck would have it my nice sewing machine is being crabby. It is behaving like your car when the mechanic can't seem to find the problem. "Well, it works great for us!"

I hope it starts working great for me again. I really like the machine and more importantly, I'm looking forward to being able to make an auction quilt. I have donated one other quilt that sold at a silent auction for the educational fund but I think it I get this one done early and if we can showcase it before the fall district conference, we should be able to make more money towards the educational fund.

It if fun to combine 2 of my favorite activities, quilting and Toastmasters.

Quilting Divas

Ok - it might be unfair to refer to any of my quilting buddies as divas, they are all just great friends who like to quilt. We get together once a month, have lunch, learn something fun and hopefully make something cool to take home with us. My friends got together for a great afternoon. Recently, we each created a split rail fence quillow.

What is a quillow?  It is a lap size quilt that folds into a pillow. It was a popular project and one of my friends has set her sights on creating six of them.

Toastmasters Region IV Conference

I managed to complete a nice lap quilt for the silent auction that was held over the weekend at the Region IV Conference. It was done from several Moda Kansas Troubles charm packs. I really like the colors in that lap quilt. I added a few maple leaf buttons for embellishment for our Canadian friends. A log time District 24 Member, ended up with the quilt. I'm glad it spoke to him!

Welcome to Pat's Quilting Blog

If you are thinking that Grandma Quilter is a little old lady in a rocking chair, well not quite! I work full time, try to do a bit of genealogy, work on web pages from time to time and as often as possible, I like to make quilts. I wouldn't say that I was a great quilter or even a good quilter - no I'm grandma quilter and my grandkids love whatever I make for them.

One of my other great passions is Toastmasters. I attend my club's meetings and it is one of the best parts of my week. We laugh and learn and become better communicators. Check out our district website http://www.district24toastmasters.com it has a lot of information about clubs across Nebraska and Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Iyla's Dressed to the Nines

This is a favorite baby girl quilt.  I wish I could invent time as I could make them and have on the shelf!  It requires applique and blanke...
