More Scraps

This quilt is a combination of 2.5" squares, 9.5" squares and 9.5 x 18" rectangles! 

I think done in red and green it could look like a wreath.

And yet another quilt from my scrap bin.  This one uses 32 2.5" squares per block!

I have barely made a dent in my scraps.  I have taken a stab at sorting them into plastic shoe boxes and keep finding more.  I have even given a lot of them to beginner quilters for string quilts. 

These batiks are wild!  I had to add some yardage to the mix.

I love these little beach houses. They are fun.  A 3.5x6.5" flying geese block and 2.5" strips! 

Scraps, scraps, scraps Patriotic

They grow and multiple! 

But I am putting them to good use. 

The question is, can I get them finished in time for a big reveal in August 2024? 

This one just needs borders, quilted and bound. 

Duckworth Quilt In Progress

The premise is easy: pick a focus color and then go to the color wheel and pick the opposite color and make a wonky 6.5" log cabin.  

I decided on black and white. Some of blacks had big prints and that did work out the best but hey, I'm using up scraps.

It's a snap!

It is a 3 yard quilt that I pieced in July 2020, I think.  I finally finished the quilting in February 2024.  

It will likely be a grandkid's gift. 

Homegrown Scrap Quilt Show

August 2024 is the date for the krazy quilters Homegrown Scrap Quilt Show and Tell. 

As the program lead, I am working hard to create at least 12 new quilts for show and tell.  That is a lot of quilts but I have a lot of scraps. 

Scraps for me are pieces of random sizes that are left over from other projects. They get new life by going into a new project.  

To be eye appealing, the pattern needs to be interesting, colors coordinating or should they just be wild.  

Where do I go for ideas?  And how do I manage all the projects and scraps? 

I use pinterest, the social media platform for sharing ideas?  

I have created boards and save other people's work and recreate it with my fabric and twists. 

The ideas are flowing but time management if the big challenge.  

I have to select the fabric from my tub of scraps, cut to size, sew into blocks, arrange the blocks in a manner that makes me happy and then more sewing.  

Next up is the long arm quilting process.  Finally, I'll have to add binding to finish the edge of the quilt. 

Today I am working on 2.5" squares.  The blocks will have a consistent frame added around it to quiet and pizzazz to the quilt.  

I need at least 36 of these blocks to make a nice lap size 5' square quilt. 

Is it doable?  Time will tell.

Second Memory Quilt for Lacey

When Lacey's brother Ryan passesd, she sent me enough fabric of his favorite things and this is the 2nd quilt made for his parents.

This quilt is a memory quilt made from painted blocks.  The recipient is 99 years young!

Joyce Lenear Sherrill

Combining 2 things that i do for others, quilting and helping people solve their adoption mysteries.  

Joyce gave a child to adoption and in 2023, that daughter reached out to me to help solve her mystery.  

Joyce had lived a hard life by most accounts but today is safe and secure in an assisted living home. 

She thought she was all alone with no family but there was a large extended family who had wondered where she was for many years.  

I thought she needed a quilt amd now she has one! 

pioneer Sampler

This quilt is finished, labeled and headed to a forever home tomorrow.  I like it.
